ઓનાને વિચાર્યું કે એ સંતાન તેનું નહિ ગણાય. તેથી, જયારે પણ તે તેના ભાઈની પત્નીની પાસે જતો, ત્યારે તેના ભાઈના નામે સંતાન ન અપાય તે માટે તે પોતાનું વીર્ય તેના ભાભીના અંગમાં જવા દેવાને બદલે બહાર વેડફી દેતો હતો.

And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother’s wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother.
