Yakov, annesinin kardeşi Lavan'ın kızı Rahel'i ve annesinin kardeşi Lavan'ın koyunlarını görünce yaklaştı, kuyunun ağzındaki taşı yuvarladı. Annesinin kardeşi Lavan'ın sürüsüne su verdi.
