เอสรา 9:7

ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายมีการละเมิดยิ่งใหญ่​ตั้งแต่​​สม​ัยบรรพบุรุษของข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายจนถึงทุกวันนี้ และเพราะความชั่วช้าของข้าพระองค์​ทั้งหลาย​ ข้าพระองค์​ทั้งหลาย​ ทั้งบรรดากษั​ตริ​ย์ของข้าพระองค์ และบรรดาปุโรหิตของข้าพระองค์​ได้​​ถู​กมอบไว้ในมือของบรรดากษั​ตริ​ย์​แห่​งแผ่นดินเหล่านั้น ​ให้​​แก่​​ดาบ​ ​แก่​การเป็นเชลย ​แก่​​การปล้น​ และแก่การขายหน้าอย่างที่​สุด​ อย่างทุกวันนี้

Since the days of our fathers have we been in a great trespass unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day.
