ఎజ్రా 9:7

మా పూర్వీకులతో మొదలు ఇప్పటివరకూ మేమంతా ఘోరమైన అపరాధాలు చేస్తూ వచ్చాం. మేము చేసిన దోషాలను బట్టి ఈ రోజు ఉన్నట్టుగా మేమూ, మా రాజులూ, యాజకులూ అన్యదేశపు రాజుల స్వాధీనంలో, చావుకూ చెరకూ దోపిడీకీ గురై ఉండడం వలన ఎంతో అవమానభారంతో సిగ్గుపడుతూ ఉన్నాం.

Since the days of our fathers have we been in a great trespass unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day.
