എസ്രാ 9:7

ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ കാലംമുതൽ ഇന്നുവരെയും ഞങ്ങൾ വലിയ കുറ്റക്കാരായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞങ്ങളുടെ അകൃത്യങ്ങൾനിമിത്തം ഞങ്ങളും ഞങ്ങളുടെ രാജാക്കന്മാരും പുരോഹിതന്മാരും ഇന്നുള്ളതുപോലെ വിദേശരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ കയ്യിൽ വാളിന്നും പ്രവാസത്തിന്നും കവർച്ചെക്കും അപമാനത്തിന്നും ഏല്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

Since the days of our fathers have we been in a great trespass unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day.
