ESDRA 4:20

e che già vi furono re potenti in Gerusalemme, i quali signoreggiarono in tutto il paese ch'è di là dal fiume; e ch'erano loro pagati tributi, taglie e gabelle.

There have been mighty kings also over Jerusalem, which have ruled over all countries beyond the river; and toll, tribute, and custom, was paid unto them.
