Pers Kralı Koreş'in birinci yılında, Yeremya'nın ağzıyla olan Yahve'nin sözü yerine gelsin diye, Yahve, Pers Kralı Koreş'in ruhunu harekete geçirdi; öyle ki, bütün krallığında bir bildiri yayınladı ve bunu yazıya da dökerek şöyle dedi:
