മന്ത്രവാദികളും തങ്ങളുടെ മന്ത്രവാദത്താൽ പേൻ ഉളവാക്കുവാൻ അതുപോലെ ചെയ്തു; അവർക്കു കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല താനും. മനുഷ്യരുടെയും മൃഗങ്ങളുടെയും മേൽ പേൻ ഉളവായതുകൊണ്ടു മന്ത്രവാദികൾ ഫറവോനോടു:

And the magicians did so with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not: so there were lice upon man, and upon beast.
