ഈ കല്ലുകൾ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ പേരുകളോടുകൂടെ അവരുടെ പേർപോലെ പന്ത്രണ്ടു ആയിരുന്നു; പന്ത്രണ്ടു ഗോത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഓരോന്നിന്റെ പേർ അവയിൽ മുദ്രക്കൊത്തായി കൊത്തിയിരുന്നു.
