నిర్గమకాండం 34:15

ఆ దేశాల్లో నివసించే ప్రజలతో ఎలాంటి ఒప్పందాలు చేసుకోకుండా ఉండేలా జాగ్రత్త వహించాలి. ఆ ప్రజలు ఇతరుల దేవుళ్ళ విషయం వ్యభిచారుల్లా ప్రవర్తిస్తారు. వాళ్ళ దేవుళ్ళకు అర్పించిన నైవేద్యాలు తినమని ఎవరైనా నిన్ను ప్రేరేపించినప్పుడు వాటి విషయం జాగ్రత్త వహించాలి.

Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice;
