ในคดีฟ้องร้องทุกอย่าง จะเป็นเรื่องวัว ​ลา​ ​แกะ​ หรือเสื้อผ้า หรือเรื่องสิ่งของใดๆที่หายไป ถ้ามีคนมาอ้างว่าสิ่งนี้​สิ​่งนั้นเป็นของตน จงนำคดีของคู่ความนั้นไปถึงพวกผู้​พิพากษา​ พวกผู้พิพากษานั้นจะตัดสิ​นว​่าผู้ใดผิด ​ผู้​นั้นจะต้องใช้ค่าชดใช้เป็นสองเท่า

For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.
