dagarna när judarna hade fått ro från sina fiender och månaden som vände deras klagan till glädje och deras sorg till goda dagar. De skulle göra dessa dagar till dagar av fest och glädje (dagar med banketter, firande och festligheter) och dagar då man sänder matgåvor [portioner, se vers 19] till varandra och gåvor till de fattiga.

As the days wherein the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day: that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor.
