Toen Mordekai vernam al wat er gebeurd was, verscheurde Mordekai zijn klederen, hulde zich in zak en as en ging door het midden van de stad, terwijl hij luid en bitter jammerde.

When Mordecai perceived all that was done, Mordecai rent his clothes, and put on sackcloth with ashes, and went out into the midst of the city, and cried with a loud and a bitter cry;
