Setelah mengetahui bahwa Mordekai adalah orang Yahudi, Haman memutuskan untuk membinasakan semua orang Yahudi di seluruh wilayah kerajaan Raja Ahasweros, karena dia merasa tidak puas kalau hanya melenyapkan Mordekai saja.
