När det nu blev Esters tur, dotter till Avichajil, Mordochajs farbror, han som hade tagit henne som sin dotter, när hennes tur hade kommit att gå in till kungen, önskade hon ingenting förutom det som Hege, kungens kammarherre och väktaren över kvinnorna, rekommenderade. Och Ester fann nåd (favör – hebr. chen) hos alla som såg på henne.
