Inte för din rättfärdighet och ditt hjärtas uppriktighet (rättsinnighet, integritet – hebr. josher) går du in för att besätta deras land, utan för dessa hednafolks ondska driver Herren din Gud (Jahveh Elohim) ut dem framför dig och för att stadfästa ordet som Herren (Jahveh) gav med ed (svor, lovade) till Abraham, till Isak och till Jakob.
