​หน​ังสือพระราชบัญญั​ติ​ 8:3

​พระองค์​ทรงกระทำให้ท่านถ่อมใจ และปล่อยท่านให้​หิว​ และเลี้ยงท่านด้วยมานา ซึ่งท่านเองหรือบรรพบุรุษของท่านก็​ไม่​ทราบว่าเป็นอะไร เพื่อพระองค์จะทรงกระทำให้ท่านตระหนักแก่ใจว่า ​มนุษย์​จะบำรุงชีวิ​ตด​้วยอาหารสิ่งเดียวก็​หามิได้​ ​แต่​​มนุษย์​จะมี​ชี​วิตอยู่​ได้​ด้วยพระวจนะทุกคำซึ่งออกมาจากพระโอษฐ์ของพระเยโฮวาห์

And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
