เพื่อผู้ใดที่ฆ่าคนจะได้​หลบหนี​ไปอยู่​ที่นั่น​ คือผู้​ที่​ฆ่าเพื่อนบ้านโดยมิ​ได้​​เจตนา​ โดยมิ​ได้​​เกล​ียดชังเขาแต่​ก่อน​ และเมื่อหนีไปอยู่ในเมืองนี้เมืองใดเมืองหนึ่​งก​็จะรอดชีวิต

That the slayer might flee thither, which should kill his neighbour unawares, and hated him not in times past; and that fleeing unto one of these cities he might live:
