5 Moseboken 30:20

Att välja livet är att: älska Herren (Jahveh), din Gud (Elohim), höra hans röst (lyda honom), hålla sig till (klänga sig fast vid) honom. Han är ert liv, och han ska låta er få bo länge i det land han lovat ge era förfäder Abraham, Isak och Jakob. [1 Mos 12:1-3; 15:17-20] [Att älska Gud och följa hans bud är det enda sättet för ett gott liv. Mose ton är varm men ändå tydlig, se även Paulus tal till församlingsledningen i Efesos, se Apg 20:26-27.]

That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
