Deuteronomium 29:18

Laat er daarom onder u geen man of vrouw, geen geslacht of stam zijn, wier hart zich nu van de Here, onze God, afwendt om de goden dezer volken te gaan dienen; laat er onder u geen wortel zijn, die gif of alsem voortbrengt.

Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;
