మీరు ఒక పట్టాణాన్ని ఆక్రమించుకోవడానికి, దానిపై యుద్ధం చేయడానికి ముట్టడి వేసిన సమయంలో ఆ ప్రాంతంలోని చెట్లను గొడ్డలితో పాడు చేయకూడదు. వాటి పండ్లు తినవచ్చు గాని వాటిని నరికి వేయకూడదు. మీరు వాటిని ముట్టడించడానికి పొలంలోని చెట్లు మనిషి కాదు కదా!

¶ When thou shalt besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof by forcing an axe against them: for thou mayest eat of them, and thou shalt not cut them down (for the tree of the field is man’s life) to employ them in the siege:
