ద్వితీయోపదేశ కాండము 19:6

చనిపోయిన వాడి బంధువు కోపంతో హంతకుణ్ణి తరిమి, దారి చాలా దూరం గనక వాణ్ణి పట్టుకుని చంపకుండేలా వాడు ఇలా చెయ్యాలి. అతనికి ఆ వ్యక్తిపై గతంలో ఎలాంటి పగ లేదు కనుక అతడు మరణశిక్షకు పాత్రుడు కాక పోయినా ఇలా జరగవచ్చు.

Lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past.
