ถ้าคดีใดเกิดขึ้นเป็นเรื่องยากที่จะตัดสินได้​ว่า​ ​เป็นคดี​ฆ่าคนตายโดยเจตนาหรือไม่ ​เป็นคดี​​เก​ี่​ยวด​้วยการเกี่ยงกรรมสิทธิ์ในทรัพย์ ​เป็นคดี​​ทำร้ายร่างกาย​ ​เป็นคดี​ใดๆซึ่งโต้​แย้​​งก​ันภายในประตูเมืองของท่าน ท่านจงลุกขึ้นพากันไปยังสถานที่ซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านทรงเลือกไว้

¶ If there arise a matter too hard for thee in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, being matters of controversy within thy gates: then shalt thou arise, and get thee up into the place which the LORD thy God shall choose;
