ఆయన అబ్రాహాముకు సున్నతితో కూడిన ఒక నిబంధనను ఇచ్చాడు. అతడు ఇస్సాకును కని ఎనిమిదవ రోజున సున్నతి చేశాడు. ఇస్సాకు యాకోబును, యాకోబు పన్నెండుమంది గోత్ర మూలపురుషులనూ కని వాళ్లకి సున్నతి చేశారు.

And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.
