Esi-isillämme oli autiomaassa mukanaan siirrettävä temppeli, ilmestysmaja. Siinä säilytettiin kivitauluja, joihin kymmenen käskyä oli kirjoitettu. Telttatemppeli oli tehty tarkasti niiden ohjeiden mukaan, jotka Mooses oli saanut enkeliltä.
