પણ સૂબેદારે પાઉલને બચાવવાના ઇરાદાથી તેઓને એ સલાહને અમલમાં મૂકતા અટકાવ્યા, અને આજ્ઞા આપી કે, જેઓને તરતા આવડતું હોય તેઓએ દરિયામાં ઝંપલાવીને પહેલાં કિનારે જવું;
