அதற்குப்பின்பு மக்கள் தங்களுக்கு ஒரு ராஜா வேண்டுமென்று கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்கள்; அப்படியே தேவன் பென்யமீன் கோத்திரத்தைச் சேர்ந்த கீசுடைய மகனான சவுலை நாற்பது வருடங்களாக அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தார்.
