ദാവീദ് അവനോടു: ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നിന്റെ അപ്പനായ യോനാഥാന്റെ നിമിത്തം ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു ദയകാണിച്ചു നിന്റെ അപ്പനായ ശൗലിന്റെ നിലം ഒക്കെയും നിനക്കു മടക്കിത്തരുന്നു; നീയോ നിത്യം എന്റെ മേശയിങ്കൽ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
