เมื่อดาวิดทอดพระเนตรทูตสวรรค์ผู้กำลังสังหารประชาชนนั้นพระองค์กราบทูลพระเยโฮวาห์ว่า “ดูเถิด ข้าพระองค์ได้กระทำบาปชั่วร้ายแล้ว แต่บรรดาแกะเหล่านี้ เขาได้กระทำอะไร ขอพระหัตถ์ของพระองค์อยู่เหนือข้าพระองค์และวงศ์วานบิดาของข้าพระองค์เถิด”
