Maar zij kwamen daar en belegerden hem in Abel-Bet-Maäka; zij wierpen tegen de stad een wal op. Deze kwam tot aan de voormuur te staan, en al het volk bij Joab was bezig de muur te ondermijnen om die te doen instorten.

And they came and besieged him in Abel of Beth-maachah, and they cast up a bank against the city, and it stood in the trench: and all the people that were with Joab battered the wall, to throw it down.
