అబ్షాలోము జీవించి ఉన్నప్పుడు తన పేరు నిలబెట్టడానికి తనకు కొడుకులు లేరు గనక అతడు బ్రదికి ఉన్నప్పుడే ఒక స్తంభం తెచ్చి దాన్ని తన పేరట నిలబెట్టి ఆ స్తంభానికి అతని పేరు పెట్టాడు. ఇప్పటికీ అది అబ్షాలోము స్తంభం అని పిలువబడుతూ ఉంది.

¶ Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and reared up for himself a pillar, which is in the king’s dale: for he said, I have no son to keep my name in remembrance: and he called the pillar after his own name: and it is called unto this day, Absalom’s place.
