2 Samuël 18:3

Maar het volk zeide: Gij zult niet uittrekken; want of wij te enen male vloden, zij zullen het hart op ons niet stellen; ja, of de helft van ons stierf, zij zullen het hart op ons niet stellen; maar gij zijt nu als tien duizend onzer. Zo zal het nu beter zijn, dat gij ons uit de stad ter hulpe zijt.

But the people answered, Thou shalt not go forth: for if we flee away, they will not care for us; neither if half of us die, will they care for us: but now thou art worth ten thousand of us: therefore now it is better that thou succour us out of the city.
