लोगों ने कहा, “तू जाने न पाएगा। क्योंकि चाहे हम भाग जाएँ, तो भी वे हमारी चिन्ता न करेंगे; वरन् चाहे हम में से आधे मारे भी जाएँ, तो भी वे हमारी चिन्ता न करेंगे। परन्तु तू हमारे जैसे दस हजार पुरुषों के बराबर हैं; इसलिए अच्छा यह है कि तू नगर में से हमारी सहायता करने को तैयार रहे।”

But the people answered, Thou shalt not go forth: for if we flee away, they will not care for us; neither if half of us die, will they care for us: but now thou art worth ten thousand of us: therefore now it is better that thou succour us out of the city.
