હવે તે દિવસોમાં અહિથોફેલ જે સલાહ આપતો, તે કોઈએ ઈશ્વરવાણી સાંભળી હોય તેવી જ ગણાતી હતી. દાઉદ અને આબ્શાલોમ બન્ને અહિથોફેલની સલાહનો આદર કરતા હતા.
