2. ശമൂവേൽ 12:3

ദരിദ്രന്നോ താൻ വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങി വളർത്തിയ ഒരു പെൺകുഞ്ഞാടല്ലാതെ ഒന്നും ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു; അതു അവന്റെ അടുക്കലും അവന്റെ മക്കളുടെ അടുക്കലും വളർന്നുവന്നു; അതു അവൻ തിന്നുന്നതിൽ ഓഹരി തിന്നുകയും അവൻ കുടിക്കുന്നതിൽ ഓഹരി കുടിക്കയും അവന്റെ മടിയിൽ കിടക്കയും ചെയ്തു; അവന്നു ഒരു മകളെപ്പോലെയും ആയിരുന്നു.

But the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter.
