அம்மோன் மக்கள் தாங்கள் தாவீதுக்கு அருவருப்பானதைக் கண்டபோது, தூதுவர்களை அனுப்பி, பெத்ரேகோப் தேசத்துச் சீரியர்களிலும், சோபாவிலிருக்கிற சீரியர்களிலும் 20,000 காலாட்களையும், மாக்காதேசத்து ராஜாவிடம் 1,000 பேரையும், தோபிலிருக்கிற 12,000 பேரையும், கூலிப்படையாக வரவழைத்தார்கள்.

¶ And when the children of Ammon saw that they stank before David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Beth-rehob, and the Syrians of Zoba, twenty thousand footmen, and of king Maacah a thousand men, and of Ish-tob twelve thousand men.
