അവർ ശമര്യയെ വളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവിടെ മഹാക്ഷാമം ഉണ്ടായി; ഒരു കഴുതത്തലെക്കു എണ്പതു വെള്ളിക്കാശും കാൽകബ് പ്രാക്കാഷ്ഠത്തിന്നു അഞ്ചു വെള്ളിക്കാശും വരെ വിലകയറി.

And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an ass’s head was sold for fourscore pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove’s dung for five pieces of silver.
