Så drog de ut – Israels kung [Jehoram] och Juda kung [Jehoshafat] och Edoms kung [en vasallkung utsedd av Jehoram, se 1 Kung 22:47] – och de gjorde en kringgående rörelse som tog sju dagar, till sist fanns inget vatten till armén och inte för djuren som följde dem. [De hade hoppats på att hitta vatten i Wadi el Ahsy vid gränsen till Moab.]

So the king of Israel went, and the king of Judah, and the king of Edom: and they fetched a compass of seven days’ journey: and there was no water for the host, and for the cattle that followed them.
