મોઆબના રાજાએ પોતાના જ્યેષ્ઠ દીકરાને દિવાલ ઉપર દહનીયાર્પણ ચઢાવ્યું જેના કારણે ઇઝરાયલીઓ ભયભીત થઈને પોતાનાં દેશમાં ચાલ્યા ગયાં. તેથી ઇઝરાયલ પર ઈશ્વરને ક્રોધ ચઢ્યો .

Then he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt offering upon the wall. And there was great indignation against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.
