જયારે યહોવાહે ઇઝરાયલીઓને દાઉદના કુળમાંથી વિભાજિત કરીને છૂટા પાડ્યા, ત્યારે તેઓએ નબાટના દીકરા યરોબામને રાજા બનાવ્યો. યરોબામે ઇઝરાયલ પાસે યહોવાહનો ત્યાગ કરાવીને મોટું પાપ કરાવ્યું.
