Josias liet alle gruwelen verwijderen uit alle landstreken, die aan de Israëlieten behoorden, en verplichtte allen, die in Israël woonden, om Jahweh te dienen, hun God. En zolang hij leefde, weken ze niet af van Jahweh, den God hunner vaderen.
