അവന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ എട്ടാം ആണ്ടിൽ, അവന്റെ യൗവനത്തിൽ തന്നേ, അവൻ തന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ദൈവത്തെ അന്വേഷിച്ചുതുടങ്ങി; പന്ത്രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടിൽ അവൻ പൂജാഗിരികളെയും അശേരാപ്രതിഷ്ഠകളെയും വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെയും ബിംബങ്ങളെയും നീക്കി യെഹൂദയെയും യെരൂശലേമിനെയും വെടിപ്പാക്കുവാൻ തുടങ്ങി.

¶ For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.
