હિઝકિયા રાજાએ આ સેવાભક્તિના કાર્યો નિષ્ઠાપૂર્વક કર્યાં. તેના થોડા સમય પછી આશ્શૂરના રાજા સાન્હેરીબે યહૂદિયા પર ચઢાઈ કરી અને કિલ્લેબંદીવાળાં નગરો સામે પડાવ નાખ્યો. અને હુમલો કરીને આ નગરોને કબજે કરવાનો હુકમ આપ્યો.
