2. ദിനവൃത്താന്തം 25:16

അവൻ സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ രാജാവു അവനോടു: ഞങ്ങൾ നിന്നെ രാജാവിന്നു മന്ത്രിയാക്കി വെച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ? മതി; നീ വെറുതെ വെട്ടുകൊണ്ടു ചാകുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ പ്രവാചകൻ മതിയാക്കി: നീ എന്റെ ആലോചന കേൾക്കാതെ ഇതു ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു ദൈവം നിന്നെ നശിപ്പിപ്പാൻ നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said unto him, Art thou made of the king’s counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.
