อย่างไรก็ดีพระเยโฮวาห์จะไม่ทรงทำลายราชวงศ์ของดาวิด เพราะเหตุพันธสัญญาซึ่งพระองค์ทรงกระทำไว้กับดาวิด และเหตุที่พระองค์ทรงสัญญาว่าจะประทานประทีปแก่ดาวิดและแก่ลูกหลานของพระองค์เป็นนิตย์
