และเมื่ออิสราเอลทั้งปวงเห็นว่ากษัตริย์มิได้ทรงฟังเขาทั้งหลาย ประชาชนก็ทูลตอบกษัตริย์ว่า “ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายมีส่วนอะไรในดาวิด ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายไม่มีส่วนมรดกในบุตรเจสซี โอ อิสราเอลเอ๋ย กลับไปเต็นท์ของตนแต่ละคนเถิด ข้าแต่ดาวิด จงดูแลราชวงศ์ของพระองค์เองเถิด” อิสราเอลทั้งปวงจึงไปยังเต็นท์ของเขาทั้งหลาย
