Toen nu de mannen te Asdod zagen, dat het alzo toeging, zo zeiden zij: Dat de ark des Gods van Israel bij ons niet blijve; want Zijn hand is hard over ons, en over Dagon, onzen god.

And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: for his hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon our god.
