ઈશ્વરનો હાથ આશ્દોદીઓ ઉપર ભારે હતો. તેમણે તેઓનો નાશ કર્યો, તેઓને એટલે આશ્દોદ તથા તેની સરહદમાં રહેનારાઓને ગાંઠના રોગથી માર્યા.
