ఫిలిష్తీయులు యుద్ధం చేసినప్పుడు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు ఓడిపోయి అందరూ పారిపోయి తమ డేరాలకు తిరిగి వచ్చారు. అప్పుడు భయంకరమైన వధ జరిగింది. ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల్లో 30 వేలమంది సైనికులు చనిపోయారు.
