Toen hij aankwam, zie, Eli zat op zijn stoel aan de kant van de weg in afwachting, want zijn hart was vol zorg over de ark Gods. Toen de man in de stad kwam en het bericht overbracht, ging er een gejammer door de gehele stad.

And when he came, lo, Eli sat upon a seat by the wayside watching: for his heart trembled for the ark of God. And when the man came into the city, and told it, all the city cried out.
